Legendary French actor Gerard Depardieu has been forced to pay compensation to a photographer after he was convicted of attacking him.

The Oscar-nominated star was ordered to pay paparazzo Dario Orlandi 800 euros ($1,275.00) after an Italian court found him guilty of injuring the photographer.

Orlandi told the court how Depardieu head-butted him after spotting him taking pictures while out on a shopping trip in Florence, Italy, in 2005 - leaving him unable to work for four days.

A judge told the court the Italian court that the Green Card star, who was not present at the hearing, would be required to pay the fine for "injuries and threats against Dario Orlandi". (MJ/WNWR/LJ)
