Funnyman Ricky Gervais visited the White House in his pyjamas - because all his best clothing was at the cleaners.

The Office star was extended a last-minute invitation to the historic building in Washington, D.C., where U.S. President Barack Obama lives. And he was determined to make the trip - even if it meant posing for pictures in a t-shirt and loose-fitting loungewear.

He writes on his blog: "So (longtime partner) Jane and I, Ben Stiller & family...were invited to the White House. We had a convoy of black limos waiting. All my smart clothes were at the hotel dry cleaners. We couldn't be late and couldn't miss the opportunity. There was only one solution. I went in my pyjamas. (Absolutely true) Thank you.
