Girls Gone Wild Guy Goes To Jail

Author: Tony Reid

Joe Francis, founder of starter-porn empire, Girls Gone Wild has been indicted on federal tax evasion charges. With illegal deductions totaling over $20 million in bogus receipts from prior returns, Francis has to prove a helluva lot of keggers.

According to, The Smoking Gun a US District Court in Reno, Nevada filed two indictments against Francis,34, where he sought to conceal income by filtering money through offshore companies. He funneled $15 million from one bank account in the Cayman Islands to a California brokerage account of which he is an owner. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $500,000. Small change for a man whose company, Mantra Films, earns about $24 million a year in DVD sales of drunken college kids exposing themselves and simulating sex acts while on Spring Break. Francis and his gang of “cinematographers” offer T-shirts as payment to the semi-willing, fully-loaded “performers.”

In a coincidence completely unrelated except on the cosmic planes, Francis was arrested Tuesday at a Florida airport attempting to escape a judge’s order for contempt of court. After failing to reach a settlement between seven litigants suing him for victimization, the sneaky weasel verbally abused the women during negotiations and soured any potential deal. Francis now must remain in jail until a settlement is reached. Wonder if he'll make his jailhouse initiation available on DVD anytime soon.
