Giuliana Rancic Explains The Origins Of Her Baby's Name

Giuliana and Bill Rancic spent months preparing for their first child. Despite not having a baby by the most traditional of means—the couple chose a surrogate to carry their baby—both Rancics felt their baby should have a traditional name. Just a month and a half into their new journey as parents, Giuliana is proudly talking dirty diapers and her cute little son.

Mrs. Rancic recently spoke to People about baby Edward Duke, who was born via surrogate on August 29. According to the new mom, Edward Duke was a good name fit for both Giuliana and Bill.

“Edward is Bill’s late father’s name and Eduardo is my father’s name. We’ve always loved the name Duke. We thought it was a really strong name, it means leader and I have a feeling he’s going to be the leader of our family!”

The couple seem to be really doting on the little tyke, whom Bill affectionately refers to as ‘The Duke.’ Giuliana, on the other hand, is so excited to have a new soul in the house, she even gets stoked when it is time for a diaper change.

“I love changing poopy diapers. When I open a diaper and it’s poopy, I’m like, ‘Yes, score!’”

The Rancics have had a pretty tough several years. First, Giuliana had trouble getting pregnant, and then she found out she had breast cancer. After a tough battle, the E! News host came out on top, and its great that she and Bill now have the opportunity to settle down and find a little happiness. I can’t think of a couple that deserves it more.
