The O’Neal family saga continues its descent into weirdness. Upon returning home from his birthday dinner with Farrah Friday night, Ryan O’Neal found their love child, Redmond, tethered to the staircase like a dog.

TMZ is reporting today that Ryan discovered the younger son bound by his ankles and unresponsive. Older son Griffin claims Redmond was high on drugs and incapacitated him to prevent the lad from leaving the house to buy more. O’Neal called 911 and when paramedics arrived Redmond was awake and said he was fine so they left.

If this didn’t start the melee that ensued then perhaps it was Ryan not realizing his son was anchored in the dark and tripped over the leash. Griffin, humorist that he is, just laughed off the incident. The two men argued loudly and it is still unclear at this point who swung at whom first but when deputies arrived they found Redmond still leashed to the stairs and shot video to document it. We have every confidence that video will somehow become “leaked” for all the world to see. It was during this fight that a shot was fired and pregnant girlfriend Joanna Berry was seriously injured

Redmond checked into rehab on Monday and not for the first time either. And Griffin and Joanna’s attorney Gloria Allred said, “Griffin's concern has always been for the health, safety and well-being of Redmond and Joanna. He continues to do everything possible to protect his brother and I believe the facts will support that assertion." What she didn’t say was how tight he made the leash.
