It's A Boy For Duchess Catherine

Paul Revere might not have celebrated the arrival of the British with a whole lot of gusto, but with more than two hundred years of tension-easing buffer, most Americans are more than willing to smile over the arrival of a little guy from the United Kingdom, especially when he’s the royal heir. Earlier today, Duchess Catherine gave birth to a bouncing baby boy inside St. Mary’s Hospital in London at 4:24 GMT, and of course, the news has immediately vaulted to the top of news story heaps all around the world.

Details are still very few and far between at this early stage, but according to TMZ, the little guy weighed in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces. There hasn’t been any discussion of health problems or issues at this point, which is always the first concern on many new parents’ minds, and typically, no news is good on that front. For his sake, I hope he has his mother’s fetching good looks and his father’s well-spoken, sophisticated and charming nature. Really, most things about his father would be great, apart from his hairline.

As with everything else related to the Royal family, Kate’s pregnancy has been a constant source of gossip and speculation. It got off to a bit of a rocky start when she was hospitalized, but over the past few months, she’s settled into as quiet of a rhythm as is possible for one of the more famous women in the world. With an heir now produced, she’ll have plenty of time to weigh her future concerning if she wants more children and/ or how many she might want, but for the time being, something tells me she’s going to remain focused on this little bundle of joy who has now entered her life. For the rest of his stay on Earth, the family’s new addition will be carefully tracked. He will be photographed constantly and even the slightest little activities will be considered major news. His mother, however, will still wind up watching him and protecting him far more than everyone else.

At some point in the near future, the Royal proclamation signed by the doctors will be placed in front of Buckingham Palace. At that point, we should know a whole lot more of the details, most importantly what the boy who is now 3rd in line to the British throne will be called. When those details become available, we will bring them to you immediately.

Until then, Pop Blend’s sincerest thoughts go out to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They will be wonderful parents.
