J.K. Rowling Is Set To Write A New Story About This Terrifying Harry Potter Place

As Halloween approaches, the Pottermore website and Facebook page continues to tease us with tricks and treats leading up to October 31, when "all will be revealed." Today's treat came in the form of a crossword puzzle, which, when solved correctly, would reveal a scrambled word that would tell us the subject of a new writing that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is set to share with us at Pottermore.com. We've solved the puzzle, and if you're ready to know what it is, read on!

If you'd prefer to solve the puzzle yourself, check out the link in the Facebook post below, or go to Pottermore.com.

Post by Pottermore.

There are seven highlighted letters in the above puzzle. Using the clues provided here, we filled in the answers and came up with the letters K, A, Z, A, N, A, B.

It only takes a quick glance to know that those letters unscramble to Azkaban, the wizard prison, first referenced in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and explored a bit more later in the next book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This is the facility where dark witches and wizards are locked up. It's said to be a horrifying place, particularly as it was run by the soul-sucking Dementors (up until the end of the Harry Potter series anyway).

Azkaban

So, what is J.K. Rowling writing about it? Does it have anything to do with the Dolores Umbridge story she's set to be penning for Pottermore? I'm thinking by the wording of the puzzle -- "the subject of new writing" -- that it may very well be a different story, separate from Umbridge's story. But we'll see. Either way, it's another exciting update about things to come at Pottermore!

Give the puzzle a try, but if you want to see the answers we came up with to reveal "Azkaban," click to the next page. (Apologies for the handwriting.)
