Jada Pinkett Smith Speaks Out About Divorce Rumors

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith are not going to divorce, despite rumors that have been popping up in forums and tabloids for nearly a year whispering about the possibility. Au contraire, the actress, wife, and mother of two recently spoke out about what it takes to maintain a marriage and stay happy and healthy in a long-term relationship.

Pinkett Smith will rock the cover of September’s issue of Essence, a cover that will feature the woman killing it in a slithery dress, as well as highlight the headline “Will and I are NOT getting a divorce.” Inside the issue, the 40-year-old extrapolates out on the cover note, explaining Smith is still the one she needs and turns to, proving the rumors untrue.

“We're not getting a divorce. Where am I gonna go? Where am I going to go? That's my boo. It's like he's another part of me."

Jada Pinkett Smith seems to have a good understanding of what it takes to make her marriage work. She and her husband Will Smith have been together for 14 years, and according to Us Weekly, Pinkett Smith believes there are four keys to keeping the couples’ relationship fresh.

"You need understanding, acceptance, and compassion. And usually you get understanding through friendship, so you need to have that.”

Still, the facts are a little fuzzy concerning the amount of time Pinkett Smith spent with her HawthoRNe costar Marc Anthony last year. While it is unlikely anything illicit happened, the event did cause a media hailstorm, culminating in Will Smith flying home from a movie set and reportedly finding Anthony in his house, which would come across as a very Cynthia Lennon/Yoko Ono moment, regardless of circumstances. It’s good to see Pinkett Smith seem so happy and confident in her marriage and, with any luck, we will only hear success stories from here on out.
