Jamie-Lynn Spears deserves her own action-figure, as the clear-headed teenager is apparently stepping up to the plate to defend her mother’s parenting skills. The 16-year-old, fully aware of the irony that she had just announced her own pregnancy, opened her mouth when critical attention was brought down on the way her mother raised her and her slightly higher-profile sister, reported MSNBC Monday night.

This came after Lynn Spears, the mother of one Jamie-Lynn and one frazzled Britney, was told by her publisher in December that the memoir she was planning to release would be indefinitely postponed. Publishers Thomas Nelson, Inc. did not want to clarify whether the postponement had anything to do with Britney’s problems or Jaime-Lynn’s pregnancy, but we know they probably meant it that way. Jaime-Lynne, whose defending comments were chronicled in OK! said she, her mother and baby-daddy Casey Aldridge would be handling the kid as a team.

As ridiculous a spectacle as this family is putting on at this moment, maximum kudos to Jaime-Lynn for speaking up. In October she was also seen defending her sister in a video posted on OK’s web site, as a swarm of paparazzi tripped over themselves filming the Sisters Spears walking with, gasp, coffee. An irritated hippie bystander yelled that Britney was making the neighborhood unsafe, to which Jaime-Lynn roared, “Then move the fuck out!”

Just remember to stay away from the drugs, kid.
