Lindsay Lohan may have found a way to keep herself out of jail again. The actress’ new attorney, Mark Heller, is meeting with Santa Monica prosecutors today to work out a deal to avoid both sides having to go to court, and early rumors about the possible terms leave jail time off the table.
According to TMZ, prosecutors would like Lohan to spend sixty days in a residential rehabilitation center, start going back to Alcoholics Anonymous on a regular basis and do monitored community service either in New York City or Los Angeles. Lohan hasn’t commented publically on the aforementioned terms, but one would imagine she would jump at that offer right now, provided the LA City Attorney also agrees to not violate her probation. That’s the major hurdle in all of this. Lying to police about who was driving during an accident is far from an Earth-shattering crime, but violating probation can be a big deal. In Lindsay’s case, it could lead to her heading back to prison, which is obviously the very thing she’s trying to avoid through this plea agreement. Unfortunately for her, she’s probably going to need to take her chances because Santa Monica prosecutors probably aren’t going to offer her anything better, and if she were to go to court and lose, the chances of her parole being violated would only increase. We’ll keep you updated. We could even hear something by the end of the week. |
