Lindsay Lohan Sentenced To 30 Days In Jail, Will Serve Only 6

After being constantly in and out of court, then flaking on her court-mandated community service, Lindsay Lohan has been ordered back to the slammer. Finding her in violation of the terms of her probation, which included serving only 21 of the required 480 hours of community service, the court has ordered her to 30 days in county jail, starting immediately. Because it's a misdemeanor offense, though, Lohan will serve only 20% of the required 30 days, which amounts to six days.

As you might have forgotten in the flood of headlines about Lohan, her troubles and her million-dollar check from Playboy, this all started from sentencing when she was convicted of stealing a necklace earlier this summer, while she was already on probation from a 2007 drunk driving charge. Jail time turned into house arrest, which landed her back in court after failing an alcohol test. When her house arrest was over she was quickly back in trouble for constantly blowing off her community service, which eventually caused the Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles to ask her not to return for volunteer service. Even when she got reassigned to the morgue after her parole was revoked last month, she showed up to her first day of volunteer work 40 minutes late. Now her total lack of effort into her rehab process and community service has landed her with the jail time she was trying to avoid.

You can argue that the world at larger is too harsh on Lohan, or that our attention ought to be elsewhere, but it's hard to deny she was given a lot of opportunities to avoid this jail time, and she squandered every single one of them. She now has until March 29 to serve her jail time, complete her community service at the morgue and attend 8 psychotherapy sessions-- if she doesn't pull that off, she heads to jail for 270 days, and the media circus starts all over again.
