Miley Cyrus Takes Her Boob Out For A+ Lil Kim Costume

Say what you will about Miley Cyrus, but the woman knows her pop culture. Following the backlash from her Video Music Awards performance, the starlet discussed how similar the fallout was to similar incidents that happened with Madonna and Britney Spears in past years. Now, she’s further proven her mettle by parading around Los Angeles in one of the funniest and most dated referential costumes anyone will see this year.

That’s right. If it wasn’t instantly recognizable to you, let me set the stage. The year was 1999, and Lil Kim stepped out of her limousine onto the Video Music Awards red carpet and took damn near every jaw in a three block radius to the ground. Here’s a reminder of what she looked like…

Pretty spot-on, huh? Considering it’s Halloween and she’s not exactly busting out of her pastie, this costume actually seems on the right side of the line too. In fact, it’s decidedly tame compared to some of the other get-ups she’s rocked recently, which is probably why the response to Miley’s costume has been almost overwhelmingly positive from pretty much everyone, including Lil Kim herself. She hit up Twitter not long after the pictures emerged to give an enthusiastic thumbs up…

Awwww. Look at my baby @mileycyrus tonight!!! Looking GORGEOUS!!! I wish I was there to squeeze your boob :) :) Love…

Exactly why so many people have been angry at Miley has been a source of intense debate over the past month or so. Plenty of people point to the general public’s problem with women who are too sexually forward, but I would submit the bigger problem is she seemed like she was being sexually forward simply for the shock value. This Lil Kim costume is going over well, however, because it’s a bit smarter and has a sense of humor about itself. Here's to hoping we see more of that kind of outrageousness moving forward.
