One Track Sunday: OneRepublic Turns A Plane Crash Song Into A Party

OneRepublic has been busy putting together new music for the band’s upcoming third album, Native, set to hit the market in March. Now, the group has released the music video for “If I Lose Myself,” a video that takes a look at a crazy night with a killer party. "If I Lose Myself" is the second single off of Native, and it highlights a pretty deep subject, although you may not guess it from the music video.

While the breezy pop song is the soundtrack for the video, the track follows a group of youngsters moving about in the jungle of the city, looking for the ultimate party. The video is energetic and exciting--which is a nice contrast to the group’s soulful singing--and if OneRepublic is your thing, it’s definitely worth a watch.

Interestingly, “If I Lose Myself” isn’t actually about a thrilling night leading into a wild party. It is about a crazy night, however. OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder told MTV news, the song is actually about an airplane crash.

Waking up on an airplane and finding our you're going down, having that moment of sheer panic, looking out the window, seeing your life pass before you, looking over to your right and seeing the person you love sitting next to you, and realizing 'It could be worse.’”

That’s a pretty specific scenario, and I’m honestly a little happier the video turned out the way it did. If you like what you heard, you can catch Native in full starting on March 26, 2013.
