Paparazzi Beat Down on Malibu Beach

published: 2008-06-23 23:41:51
Paparazzi beware. Unlike Britney Spears who has to contend with the paparazzo on her own, Matthew McConaughey has a posse of drunken surfers standing by. I mean, who needs bodyguards anymore? That’s so 90’s.

Los Angeles Times reported this past weekend four photographers were “victims of crime“ on Malibu beach when they were beaten by a group of surfers who were trying to “protect“ Matthew McConaughey.

After watching the video, it is obvious these meatheads were simply liquored up and in the mood to talk some shit to anyone who was about to get in their way. Basically, they were not in any way concerned with “protecting” anyone.

Why would McConaughey need protection from the cameras anyway? If you had his body, would you want some inebriated surfers getting in the way of the shot that could land you on Us Weekly’s cover of the sexiest summer bodies?! The answer is no. It’s not like they were protecting Tyra Banks from the cameras without her Spanxx!

Apparently the “mob of surfers” damaged camera equipment worth upwards of $13,000, and therefore the Los Angeles police are going to be patrolling the area more heavily. The paparazzi might be thinking they are about to gain more respect, or even accessibility to celebrities after this incident, but I wouldn’t be so sure. According to the L.A. Times, Mayor Pamela Ulich wants to “draft a city ordinance that could include ‘buffer zones’ as well as a possible tax on paparazzi.”
