It’s been a rough few weeks for Paul Abdul. The former pop star and Lakers’ cheerleader was filming the new season of American Idol when she was told a rejected contestant was found dead outside her home. The suicide turned out to be Paula Goodspeed, an obsessed fan who was ridiculed by the judges for a particularly awful audition.

According to People, Abdul has been staying in hotels and various private homes with a security guard for her protection ever since the incident. “She had tried to do this before…and it was just heartbreaking,” Paula cryptically clarified, though she was unwilling to comment on specifics.

It’s really sad to this, but this type of irrational malarkey was bound to happen. We have a serious problem dealing with failure in this country. Everyone thinks they’re special and talented, and when they find out otherwise, they can’t deal with it.
