Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix will record every step of his transition from movie star to musician in a forthcoming documentary.

The Walk The Line star announced his plans to retire from Hollywood - at the age of 34 - late last month (Oct08). Phoenix told reporters he wanted to focus on his budding music career, adding, "I'm not doing films anymore. I'm working on my music. I'm done. I've been through that."

According to a source at People.com, Phoenix has already started filming on a documentary "that will showcase his transition from acting to music".

Last week (beg17Nov08), the star surprised the crowd at California nightspot Carbon, when he took the mic to perform a rap recorded by his brother-in-law, actor Casey Affleck. (JMA/WNWCPL/MT)
