Photographer Stern Sues Over Stolen Monroe Photos

A photographer who captured Marilyn Monroe nude is suing two men he claims stole some of the saucy snaps. Bert Stern took the famous Last Sitting series of photos of Monroe, just six weeks before she died from a drug overdose in 1962.

The pictures were recently recreated by Stern using Lindsay Lohan in Monroe's place. Stern claims seven of the famous photographs, showing the tragic star posing naked behind a transparent white gauze, weren't returned by editors of the now-defunct magazine Eros, when he loaned them more than 40 years ago.

He has filed a lawsuit in New York, against Michael Weiss and Donald Penny, claiming the snaps are in their possession, and alleging the two men have attempted to sell them back to him.

Stern claims the photos are worth $100,000 each, and is suing for $700,000 and $1 million in punitive damages and legal fees. (IG/PYN/LR)
