The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent a few quiet weeks with Prince George out of the limelight. With the whole world waiting to hear what the newborn is like, however, Prince William couldn't stay silent forever. On Monday, he gave his first interview since George was born, and in it, the Prince talked babies and fatherhood before admitting his newborn son is "a little rascal."
Like many new fathers, Prince William was perfectly open about admitting he has loved shoving his son in other people’s faces and hearing him be proclaimed “the best” at anything or everything.
"As any new parent knows, you're only too happy to show off your new child and proclaim that he is the best-looking or the best everything.”
According to CNN, Prince William also spoke out to talk about Prince George’s resemblance to the men on his side of the family. Although it’s a little too early to tell whether or not he will favor the royal or Middleton side of the family, Prince William says his son behaves similarly to himself and his brother, Prince Harry.
"He either reminds me of my brother or me when I was younger, I'm not sure, but he's doing very well at the moment.”
After several weeks of anticipation around the world, the Duchess of Cambridge headed to the hospital and delivered the little tyke on July 22. Shortly after, the young family introduced the baby to world and announced they had named their son George Alexander Louis, a choice which had been the odds on favorite for months. When I think of royal babies, I think of luxurious rooms where a child’s every need and want can be attended to professionally and promptly, but even royal babies have their problems. In the video, William admits that baby George isn’t sleeping all that well, which means that in addition to being a figurehead, daddy is likely going through a lot of sleepless nights. Just wait until the baby starts teething.
On a serious note, Prince William does seem up to the challenge of parenthood.
The last few weeks for me have been just a very different emotional experience…Something I never thought I would feel myself... it's only been a short period, but a lot of things affect me differently now.”
Parenting is not always easy, but since a significant portion of people choose to procreate and most of those people produce healthy, functioning adults, I have no doubt little George is in safe hands, even if his young parents make a few blunders along the way.
