Question Of The Day: Happier To See Dirk Win Or LeBron Lose?
Last night, one of the twenty greatest players in NBA history won his first championship. With fanatics, critics and casual enthusiasts all watching, Dirk Nowitzki offered up arguably the worst first half performances of his entire career. As shot after shot clanked off the rim, many silently wondered if perhaps he simply didn’t have it in him. Those fears were put to rest in the second half as he scored ten points in the final twelve minutes including the dagger fadeaway that iced the game.
Nowitzki’s heroics and the euphoric, tearful celebration that followed would have been the lead story had the Mavericks been playing any other team, but today’s day after headlines are mostly about the other team coming up short. Over the last year, the Miami Heat have captivated the sporting world and inspired more distasteful boos than any other NBA team in history. They’ve made the Isiah Thomas-led, late 80s Detroit Pistons seem like twelve Kerri Strug’s, post ankle injury, and at the center of all that hate has been LeBron James.
The King, as he calls himself, left Cleveland this past summer to unite with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. During the super friends’ introduction, James made grandiose promises of how many titles they’d win, but another year has turned into another failure at the hands of Dirk Nowitzki’s scrappy Mavericks.
So, all that poses the question: are you happier to see Dirk win or LeBron lose? Vote in the poll below and let us know what you think…
