Officials from the Ray Charles Foundation have filed suit against the late star's eldest son for publishing a photograph of his father in his new book.

Ray Charles Robinson, Jr., the singer's son with his second wife Della Robinson, released You Don't Know Me: Reflections of My Father, Ray Charles in June (10). But the publication has infuriated executives at the foundation, which was set up by the music legend to take charge of his copyrights and intellectual property rights upon his death in 2004.

Bosses at the organization filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Wednesday (17Nov10), alleging Robinson, Jr. featured a copyrighted picture of the soul star in the book without permission and also included some of his father's most famous lyrics in the work. The suit seeks $150,000 for each copyright violation and also names publishing company Random House, as well as Robinson, Jr.'s co-author, Mary Jane Ross, as defendants, according to the Los Angeles Times.
