Emotions are rising once again in the aftermath of Osama Bin Ladenís death, and it seems as though lately people are reminiscing more about the September 11th attacks than ever before. Even Hollywood stars like Rob Lowe are finding out about events that they previously had no idea happened during that time.
Rob Lowe received a letter from an Attorney General in Maryland stating that he would be excused from having to testify at the 2006 trial of Hijack mastermind Zacaris Moussaoui. The former The West Wind star found out that he was only feet away from Zacaris Moussaoui during a test flight that Al Qaeda operatives were doing while planning the 9/11 attacks.
Rob Lowe explains:
ďI was shooting The West Wing in D.C. at the time and I always took the flight that leaves Dulles to Los Angeles that they (Al Qaeda) eventually put into the Pentagon... They (Attorney General) tells me I've appeared on Zacarias Moussaoui's list of people he wants to depose for his trial, and I think, 'This has gotta be an April Fools (prank).' I had my lawyer check it out and indeed that's how I found out that flight was a dry run and I was surrounded by these guys.Ē
The Brothers and Sisters star had no clue that Zacaris was on his flight, a man who was preparing to act upon the unthinkable, just 11 days before the September 11th attacks. After the attacks on September 11th, Moussaoui was arrested for being the mastermind behind the attacks and is now serving a life sentence at a Supermax prison in Colorado after being convicted.
Reminiscing about the surprising reveal, Rob Lowe says "I looked around the cabin and I don't remember anything in particular; nobody looked scary, nobody looked like a terrorist."
