A man wielding a pair of scissors and claiming to be Miley Cyrus’ husband hopped a fence surrounding the pop star’s property early this morning. She wasn’t home at the time, but those who were called the police. A mini-confrontation reportedly ensued upon their arrival outside the Studio City residence, the result of which put the trespasser behind bars.
According to KTLA, authorities have identified the alleged intruder as Jason Luis Rivera. He supposedly has a long history of run-ins with the law back in Texas, though it’s unclear how long he’s been in California. He first arrived at Cyrus’ place sometime after Midnight, and after knocking on the door, he refused to leave. Instead, he lit candles and waited. The police arrived shortly thereafter to find Rivera allegedly hiding in the bushes. When he wouldn’t come out, the emergency responders hit him with a taser and hauled him off to jail.
While in custody, Rivera allegedly told authorities Cyrus was his wife, and he’s known her for five years. Because of where he was apprehended on the property, the suspect was charged with trespassing and burglary. Given how many witnesses are involved and who the intended target was, it seems like a guarantee he’ll be charged over the incident in the immediately future. We’ll let you know when that officially happens.
