Seth Meyers Marries Alexi Ashe In Martha's Vineyard
By Jessica Rawden 3 years ago
Seth Meyers is having a really big year, between leaving his longtime gig at SNL to host his own late night show and getting engaged to his girlfriend of several years, Alexi Ashe. The two were rumored to be ready for a bigger commitment a few times throughout their relationship, but the actual proposal didn't occur until July of this year. Ordinarily, that would mean the two would look toward a 2014 wedding, but somehow, they were able to plan the entire thing in record time, exchanging their I dos over the weekend at Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts.
The 39-year-old writer and TV personality was married on Sunday, September 1 to Ashe, a human rights lawyer. It’s been less than two months since the two were officially engaged, at least in the eye of the public, but they still managed a sizeable ceremony in the Vineyard, inviting around 150 individuals to attend the big event. Many of these people were famous names, including SNL favorites like Lorne Michaels, Amy Poehler, Jason Sudeikis, Andy Samberg, Fred Armisen, Kenan Thompson. Taran Killam, Will Forte, and Kristen Wiig. Additionally, US Weekly is reporting Olivia Munn, Allison Williams, Ali Larter, Jack McBrayer, and Rashida Jones also attended the big event, among others.
With less than a couple of months to plan, it’s hard to imagine the event was an extravagant affair (although with the right wedding planner and enough money, who knows what could be achieved?). We do know that immediately after getting engaged the couple sent out wedding announcement emails to their close family and friends, an act which makes sense, considering you usually send out invitations a couple of months in advance. On the big day, the bride wore a lace dress and the groom favored a dark-colored suit.
Weddings are especially important for the couple. They met several years ago at the ceremony of a mutual friend. Since 2011, rumors have abounded off and on that the two have gotten engaged. No doubt both Meyers and Ashe live extremely busy lives, but it’s nice to see that they were eventually able to find the time to settle down, after all.
With the TV season gearing up to start very soon, Meyers will be back to work in no time. The man has plans to usher SNL into a new era by helping out with a few “Weekend Update” segments before the new player takes over. Additionally, his Late Night show will begin airing at the beginning of 2014.
We wish him nothing but luck in both all his pursuits, both personal and professional.
