Taylor Swift To Perform With Alison Kraus, Vince Gill And More At Country Music Awards
The release of Taylor Swift's hit album, Red, garnered a lot of attention, as did the subsequent tour and music video releases from the album. Although Red was released about a year ago, Swift hasn't seemed to slow down a bit. Over the last few months, the singer has been working hard in the country music realm, opening an education center in Nashville. Soon, she’s even set to perform during next month’s Country Music Association Awards and she’s signed on some big names to join her onstage.
The ABC Broadcast will feature Swift heading onstage to perform her hit single, “Red,” along with a few big names in the country world. Joining her for the performance are a few people who deserve laud in their own right, including bluegrass singer Alison Krauss, awesome country music jack-of-all-trades Vince Gill, and mandolin player Sam Bush. Additionally, the AP is noting that bassist Edgar Meyer, and percussionist Eric Darken will also be part of Swift's band during the big event.
Swift has actually been nominated for six awards this year, including top entertainer. In that category, she’ll be competing against Jason Aldean, George Strait, Blake Shelton, and Luke Bryan. This year, all of those talented names will take the stage and perform to show how much oomph and pizzazz they brought to the country music world over the past year. The talent Swift is bringing in should give her stage performance this year something extra, but I really, really wish that this was an actual concert date and not a performance for an awards show. Can you imagine what Swift, Krauss, Gill, Bush and more could accomplish if they were given an entire hour to entertain? I’m not even a huge bluegrass fan, but I would pay money to see that, especially if the gang covered Krauss’ “Atlanta.”
Still, with all of the big performances slated across the evening, this year’s CMA Awards should be a good one. The show will air on Wednesday, November 6 and Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are set to host for the sixth year in a row. So, go ahead and pull out your most ostentatious cowboy boots from the back of the closet and prepare to jam with the likes of Swift, Krauss, and Gill.
