Today: Will Showing Kris Jenner Instead Of 9/11 Memorial Affect Its Future Ratings?
By Mack Rawden 4 years ago
Today was the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. To commemorate what happened and honor those who were lost, a special ceremony was held at 8:46 A.M. Most channels cut into the regularly scheduled programming to televise the events with one obvious exception: NBC.
The Peacock Network’s Today may have once dominated the morning dial, but over the past year, the wheels have started coming off in a big way. Whether that had anything to do with the decision made this morning is unclear, but regardless of the why, as the other stations were absorbing moments of silence, a Today anchor was asking Kris Jenner about her breast augmentation surgery. You can take a look at split screen coverage of the major networks below…
There’s no question staying away from the 9/11 memorial was a classless move. I haven’t the slightest idea why executives thought they could get away with that. At a time when public opinion has already stated turning away from Today and toward Good Morning America, this is the last thing the morning show needed, but whether or not it will have a lasting impact remains unclear.
What do you think? Will the interview mix-up have a lasting impact on Today, or will this not affect the show’s ratings? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
