Singing veteran Sir Tom Jones has been ordered to re-take his driving test now he has reached the age of 70. The Welsh crooner celebrated the milestone birthday in June (10), but despite holding a British license, Jones has been told he must take another exam if he wants to continue driving in America, where he lives.

The What's New Pussycat hitmaker will also have to undergo an eye test and a written assessment, but the star is adamant he will pass. He says, "I feel prepared. I've been driving since I was 25 and I've re-read the book. There's not much more I can do. They'll certainly have a shock when I get in the car."

And even if he fails the re-examination, the singer has a back-up plan: "I tend to fly places or have a tour bus. Then you only need a limo to collect you from the airport." (KD/WNTEX/LR)
