Tyler's Fall From Stage During Concert Resulted In Injuries

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is suffering from head, neck and shoulder injuries after falling from the stage during a concert in South Dakota.
The band was performing to a sold-out crowd at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on Wednesday (05Jul09) when the sound equipment failed during their track Love In An Elevator, and Tyler tried to entertain fans during a break in the show by dancing perilously close to the edge of the stage. He misjudged one step and took a tumble, according to local newspaper the Rapid City Journal. Security rushed to his aid and Tyler was airlifted to the Rapid City Regional Hospital in the early hours of Thursday (06Aug09), cutting short the rockers' gig.
The seriousness of the 61-year-old singer's injuries was unknown as WENN went to press, but Mike Sanborn, spokesman for the concert venue, reveals Tyler was fully conscious when he was taken to the medical center.
Sanborn says, "He was good natured about it (the fall). He was in good spirits when he got in the helicopter. He was talking and joking with the physician."
The freak accident is the latest in a string of health-based setbacks to have plagued the group's U.S. tour - Tyler cancelled a series of gigs after he suffered a leg injury, while bandmate Brad Whitford was forced to step down from touring duties after undergoing surgery for a burst blood vessel. The group pulled out of a planned tour in 2008 and dates earlier this year (09) to allow guitarist Joe Perry to recover from knee surgery. (MT/WNWCPL/)
