Watch OK Go And The Muppets Cover The Muppet Show Theme Song
By Katey Rich 4 years ago
By now you've probably already squealed with glee at last week's news that a compilation album called The Green Album had been released in advance of the new movie The Muppets, featuring covers of Muppet Show songs by everyone from Weezer to Andrew Bird. You can still listen to the entire album streaming here, but if you want some silly, energetic visuals to go along with it, you also must check out the video for OK Go's cover of The Muppet Show theme song. The band famous for their treadmill and Rube Goldberg music videos have teamed up with the Muppets. I really don't need to say more.
I'm not really even that crazy of their musical take on the me-- it's paced a lot slower than I think the Muppets ought to be, and the thick drum beat makes the whole thing feel kind of heavy. But the visuals-- man, there is so much to enjoy here. It's old-school Muppet chaos combined with OK Go's usual sense of play, even including some references to the band's old videos. If The Muppet Show was on the air today, you get the sense that they wouldn't just be frequent guests, but somehow take over from Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem as the house band.
If you'd like to buy The Green Album to carry all the other Muppet covers with you wherever you go, it's finally gone onsale today. And The Muppets, the movie starring Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and the entire Muppet crew, hits theaters on November 23.
