Singer Amy Winehouse has been arrested by British police on suspicion of assault.

The Rehab hitmaker, 24, is reported to have headbutted a man while out drinking in The Good Mixer public house in Camden, north London in the early hours of Wednesday (23Apr08).

The alleged victim, 38, filed a police complaint against Winehouse on Thursday (24Apr08) and authorities in the British capital then launched a formal investigation into the accusations.

Winehouse voluntarily turned herself in to London's Holborn Police Station on Friday evening (25Apr08) to be quizzed by cops, and she was subsequently put under arrest.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson has confirmed the singer is currently being held in custody, but she is expected to be released on bail soon.
