X Factor Musical To Hit London Stage Next Year

In the U.S., The X Factor, while popular, has not made as huge of an impression as other reality competition programs. In the U.K., however, the series has become quite popular and will spawn a musical comedy based on the singing competition show called X Factor--Itís Time To Face The Musical!. If it sounds wacky, itís supposed to be.
Itís Time To Face The Musical! has been in the works for a while and has been workshopped twice already. According to the Daily Mail, casting will begin in May with rehearsals set for the holiday season next year. The musical itself will hit the London Palladium stage in the spring of 2014. Famed comic writer and BAFTA award winner Henry Hill is writing the project, which will be produced by Stage Entertainment and Simon Cowellís Syco Entertainment. If it has the Cowell stamp of approval, I guess itís all right.
The show will even riff on the judges, although since it is a U.K. production, it will focus more on the judges of the original The X Factor program. That means both U.S. and U.K. judge Nicole Scherzinger might still get a few jokes at her expense, as could Cowell. As Simon is making money out of the endeavor, it seems unlikely the latter will mind. The show will feature 19 original songs, as well as some music fans of The X Factor may recognize, but will be tweaked a bit for the purposes of fiction and the stage. Even though Iím more familiar with U.S. version of the show, it would be pretty awesome to see caricatures of plenty of famous names and faces.
