Alicia Keys Raises Money At Black Ball

Pop star Alicia Keys couldn’t have been more pleased with yesterday’s Black Ball. The annual fundraiser benefits the Keep A Child Alive foundation, and this year’s gala collected more than four hundred thousand dollars. The event was held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City and used both ticket revenues and an auction to achieve that commendable tally.

The biggest ticket item at the auction was a lifetime membership to all of Donald Trump’s golf courses. It fetched a whopping one hundred and eighty thousand dollars, dwarfing the twenty-five thousand paid for a dinner party with Edward Norton and Naomi Watts.

According to Hello Magazine, the night also offered a tribute to George Harrison. The legendary Beatle was known for embracing Indian culture, and since the Keep A Child Alive foundation benefits AIDS victims in India and Africa, this was a perfect venue to honor the brilliant musician.

Numerous celebrities beyond Keys were on hand to celebrate and donate to her charity including Usher, will.i.am, Norah Jones and Richie Sambora. Several even performed, much to the delight of the crowd. Perhaps the night’s shining moment was a duet between will.i.am and Keys which saw the host sing Fergie’s parts in “I Gotta Feeling”.

Pop Blend would like to send out its congratulations to Alicia Keys on a successful night and its admiration for her involvement in such an important and pivotal charity.
