Bill Goldberg In Talks To Wrestle Again For Charity

Bill Goldberg was never the world's best technical wrestler. The Bret Hart's and Shawn Michaels' of the world routinely put him to shame with more complicated, better executed moves during his career, but I don't begrudge Bill Goldberg for his success at all. At least forty percent of being a wrestler is conveying intimidation and aggression in the ring. Bill Goldberg is as good as anyone in that department. With a hulking posture and a crazed look in his eyes, he speared many a wrestler during his meteoric rise to stardom before stepping away less than ten years into his career to focus on his family, his acting and his gym business. Now he's in negotiations to step in the ring one more time for a good cause.

According to TMZ, the former Celebrity Apprentice contestant is talking with several charity organizations for a one night match in Africa that would benefit those less fortunate. If it moves ahead, the bout would take place sometime next month against a yet unnamed opponent. Nothing has been finalized, but it seems pretty likely at this point. Goldberg told the news outlet he's already increased his training to please the fans.

Wrestlers typically have very long shelf lives. Bodies may break down preventing constant competition, but the higher end performers can generate big money well into their twilight years for mic work and the occasional match. Ric Flair is in his sixties and still doing his thing, while Hulk Hogan is in his late fifties and still occasionally straps on the yellow uniform. At forty-four, Goldberg should still be able to put on a hell of a show, even with a bit of rust.
