Bill Murray Reads Poetry, Not The Ghostbusters 3 ScriptAuthor: Jacob Sundstrom

I don’t know Bill Murray personally, but based on some fairly extensive interview watching, it appears the man is kind of an asshole. Not in a mean-spirited sort of way, just kind of a pretentious I-have-better-taste-in-art-than-you asshole. He probably does, so there’s that. He’s an actor gifted with extraordinary talent, but is too damn picky to run out a crappy sequel to Ghostbusters; so instead, we will have to settle for listening to the man, the myth, the badger reading poetry in New York.
Splitsider had the story originally, and you can check out both of the videos embedded at the end of this post. It appears that he has had a few drinks, but Bill Murray always seems like he has had more than a few drinks. Maybe it’s his personality, maybe it’s his persona, maybe he really does drink that often. Regardless, the poems are great (I had even heard of one; an amazing revelation coming from someone who reads less than Huck Finn) and listening to Bill Murray deliver them is fantastic. So, yes, this is what Bill Murray does in his spare time. He doesn’t have any films scheduled out this year, and was last seen in Passion Play, Fantastic Mr. Fox (hence the Badger line above), and Get Low. Whether or not Dr. Venkman will make a triumphant return in Ghostbusters 3 remains to be seen, but for now, we’ll enjoy Bill Murray’s poetry readings and hope for more acting to come. |
