Kim Kardashian has had her share of drama for last well, ever really – creating news and having people talk about her is basically her purpose in this world. But early Sunday morning it was Kim’s step-brother Brody Jenner making some news with his pop singer girlfriend, Avril Lavigne.

As Jenner and Lavigne were leaving the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, they were attacked by five people, Reuters reports. Lavigne says she suffered a black eye, bloody nose, torn out hair, as well as various scratches, bruises and cuts. Jenner said that he now had a scar on his face from the altercation.

Avril says that they were attacked “out of nowhere” and denounced the idea of fighting or violence in general. Jenner wasn’t quite as upset about the situation, maybe because he wouldn’t be as apt to open up about it as Lavigne, or maybe because he has a bit of a history when it comes to bar fights. That time was August 2009, when he got into a fight with the founder of Girls Gone Wild and ended up getting tased. Compared to that, this little skirmish seems rather tame. An unfortunate common link between the two incidents is that Jenner’s girlfriends at the time have both been involved – Lavigne this weekend and Jayde Nicole back in 2009.

We don’t know all the details here, but I can’t help but think its unlikely that on a Saturday night a celebrity and his girlfriend would be attacked out of the blue coming from a bar. Given his history, it really looks like Jenner got a little out of hand at the bar, said a little too much to some people who weren’t having it, and he got some payback that Avril became a victim of as well. But I’m open to being proven wrong.
