Filmmaker Tyler Perry is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit from a disgruntled songwriter after allegedly using a gospel track on his hit TV show Meet The Browns without permission.

Johnny Tyrone Stringfield filed legal papers in Los Angeles federal court on Wednesday (03Feb10), after hearing characters on the comedy show reciting lyrics to his song I Got Away in a 2009 episode.

Stringfield claims he copyrighted the song in 2008 and was never approached by Perry or producers of Meet The Browns for his approval. He is suing Perry and the star's TV bosses for more than $100,000 in damages, reports TMZ.com. (MT/WNWCZM/KL)
