Drew Barrymore Wants Her Daughter To Be Nice
It’s funny to see the sex symbols of yesteryear settling down into domestic life. Drew Barrymore may not be the first name to come to mind in that category, but she did have a few memorable scantily clad moments in Charlie’s Angels and other movies, as well as an appearance on Late Show With David Letterman in which she ripped off her shirt. Now, however, the 38-year-old actress is married to Will Kopelman and all she wants to talk about is her little family, including daughter Olive, who will soon turn 1.
Barrymore doesn’t seem like the type to throw a wild shindig for a one-year-old, but she did recently admit to US Weekly that her family is planning a birthday party for little Olive, thanks to the machinations of her sister-in-law, Jill Kopelman.
"I'm like Jill, take over!"
Barrymore might not be the world’s best party planner, but she does seem to care a lot for little Olive, telling the news outlet that her little girl brings joy to her life every day.
"She's a sweet person, which is all I care about. I am obsessed with nice. That's the most important thing."
Barrymore famously spoke out a while back about her beliefs that women really “can’t have it all.”
“I was raised in that generation of women can have it all, and I don’t think you can. I think some things fall off the table. The good news is, what does stay on the table becomes much more in focus and much more important.”
Barrymore has certainly stepped out of the limelight somewhat since having her first child, moving away from the director’s chair to spend more quality time with her daughter and to make sure that she is able to be there for all of the big moments, including first birthday parties. Some women are able to juggle both a prolific career and family life, but for the 38-year-old Barrymore, that doesn’t seem quite as important as spending time with the people she cares for the most.
