Funnyman Galifianakis Draws Crowd At Book Reading
Hundreds of movie fans descended on a small public library in North Carolina on Tuesday (17Aug10) when Zach Galifianakis held a children's book reading. The Hangover star signed up to read to kids in his hometown of Wilkes County, North Carolina but news of his appearance spread and the event was swamped with crowds eager to catch a glimpse of their idol.
More than 500 people turned up and Galifianakis joked with the audience that he should just recite the script from his hit movie, before launching into a reading of three children's books, one of which was written by his father. He told the audience, "I think that books, reading, are so very important because they tell stories, and they let you into the story. I will start with reading a book called The Hangover... No."
Afterwards the actor spent two hours posing for photos and signing autographs before thanking police officers who remained on site to help control the crowds, according to local newspaper the Winston-Salem Journal. (LR/WNWC/ZN)
