Hackers Use Fox News Twitter To Falsely Tweet President Obama's Death

Early this morning, followers of Fox News' political-themed Twitter account FoxNewsPolitics were stunned by several shocking tweets announcing President Obama had been assassinated in Iowa. The wild claims were quickly removed, and Fox News released a statement saying their account had been hacked.

Within hours, the Secret Service was notified, and the protection agency is reportedly working with Twitter to figure out how and why the hacking occurred. As of press time, no organizations have claimed credit for the breach in security, but expect the matter to be exhaustively investigated. Corporate hacking is normally taken very seriously, but anytime said hacking involves the President, those investigations take on an added aggression.

Naturally, many left-leaning internet users have taken to message boards to accuse Fox News, a right-leaning cable news network, of deliberately disseminating the false information, but those baseless allegations are far-fetched at best and malicious at worst. It's one thing to spin facts to promote an agenda, as its detractors accuse Fox News of doing; it's another thing to deliberately lie about an overt falsity that will obviously be exposed within minutes.

For the record, the President is spending the 4th of July with his family, very much alive and enjoying the anniversary of our nation's birth.
