Katharine Hepburn's Connecticut Home For SaleAuthor: Jacob Sundstrom

The old American dream included the ideal that owning a home was liken to getting married, having a family and a great job. Ever since the housing crisis erupted a few years back, that ideal is not quite as popular as it used to be. Still, if you’re in the market for a new domicile for you, your loved ones, and possibly some good friends and acquaintances, there is a house on the market just for you.
The Sacramento Bee has the story on Katharine Hepburn’s old Connecticut manor going up for sale for the low, low price of $28 million. The house has been updated by various owners over the years. Walls were knocked down in order to create open spaces and reduce the number of bedrooms and bathrooms in the house from 21 and 9 to 15 and 7.5, respectively. Hepburn retired in this home and lived there until her death in 2003. No word if the house is haunted or not, but I’ve got to imagine the whole thing smells like old age and death. If that’s what you’re looking for in a home, by all means, go for it; but don’t be surprised if you find Jumanji or something underneath a sofa. You've been warned. As an FYI, the house is also available by itself on the largest plot of land for only $18 million. I'm not sure how large the entire estate is, but if it’s a savings of ten million dollars, we’re probably looking at an expansive chunk of land. |
