Miguel Was Reportedly Told Not To Stage Jump During Performance
Producers of large, nationally televised events are typically pretty conservative when it comes to the way nominees are allowed to dress, the words presenters are allowed to say and the actions performers are allowed take while hitting the stage. No doubt thatís often very annoying for the celebrities involved, but if nothing else, this story is a great reminder that sometimes the conservative approach really is the better route.
Last month at the Billboard Music Awards, Miguel reportedly went to producers and asked if he could jump over the crowd onto the adjoining stage. According to TMZ, he was told the stunt was too dangerous, but obviously, he decided to do it anyway, leg dropping a woman right in the face and possibly causing brain damage.
Recently, the idea of a lawsuit was thrown out by an attorney the aforementioned leg drop recipient hired, and that makes this conversation with producers extremely important. In theory, both Miguel and the Billboard Music Awards could be sued over her injuries, but if this really did happen as stated, the executives behind the BMAs can point to the exchange as clear evidence they arenít responsible for what happened.
Over the next few weeks, we should know whether or not the victim will go to court and if so, who she will single out to sue. We will keep you updated. Until then, donít rule out the possibility of a settlement. After all, you never know which way a jury might vote when it comes to bizarre lawsuits.
