Boardwalk Empire is one of the best shows on television right now. Not only because The Sopranos show runner and writer Terence Winter also runs Boardwalk, but the cast is supremely talented. Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt, Kelly Macdonald and Michael Shannon are just the beginning of the show's amazing set of actors. The writing is superb, the history is dead on factual and the 1920’s based Prohibition era drama is entertaining as hell. Let’s just say when the show was renewed for a second season, only a couple of days after the series premiere aired, fans were not surprised at all. The creators adhere to a certain level of quality that isn’t seen much in TV shows today. One can only hope that the show's first official soundtrack, Boardwalk Empire Volume 1 – Music From the HBO Original Series will continue this amazing trend.

Boardwalk fans, don’t you worry though. With the new song released by Regina Spektor covering Fanny Brice’s “My Man” this week, it is obvious that the record will stay consistent in quality with its source material. The song can be heard at EW.com and also embedded below; it's an adequate rendition of the famous song which is also featured during the season finale episode A Return to Normalcy.



What do you think of the track? Compare it to the original version from Fanny Brice, whose life was imortalized in Broadway play and film Funny Girl. Spektor does a fantastic job in this rendition--the song was released in 1921 and Spektor captures the time and era perfectly.
