Ronnie Wood's Ex-Wife Auctions Off His Rolling Stones Memorabilia

The highly publicized Ronnie Wood auction took place this weekend in Beverly Hills, California, and thanks to an apparent agreement between the Rolling Stone and his ex-wife, it attracted far less controversy than expected. During the two day sale, bidders swooped in and picked up a slew of items including Ronnie’s leather coat ($8,960), his 1955 Fender Stratocaster ($60,800) and a lithograph he drew of Eric Clapton ($5,120).
The seeds of the event were planted all the way back in 2008 when Ronnie announced he was leaving Jo Wood for a much younger cocktail waitress. They’d been married for twenty-three years, and not surprisingly, the announcement reportedly led to a ton of animosity. According to Reuters, the divorce was finalized last year, but when she announced her intention to sell some of his things at auction, Ronnie released a statement claiming she didn’t own any of it. The friction quickly died down, however, leading many to believe an agreement was privately struck.
A portion of the money raised has been earmarked for the charity MusiCares. The organization has long helped musicians suffering from addictions and financial problems. Hopefully, the donations will do plenty of good for those who need help
Luckily for Ronnie, he has plenty of other Rolling Stones memorabilia and more importantly, a lifetime of memories. Here’s to hoping he and Jo don’t have any reason to fight again in the future.
