Russell Crowe Gets Help From Coast Guard After Beaching His Kayak

Russell Crowe might typically play alpha males with a preference for handling everything on their own, but in real life, the actor is capable of asking for help when he needs it. Itís a good thing too because he definitely needed a little assistance earlier this weekend.
On Saturday, Crowe and one of his buddies decided to go kayaking off Cold Spring Harbor on the Long Island Sound. Unfortunately, the trip didnít quite go as planned. The pair wound up going rapidly off course and as nightfall approached, they werenít anywhere close to their destination. The decision was made to beach the vessels to get out of the water as quickly as possible. Fortunately, a few minutes after doing so, the two spotted a Coast Guard patrol.
According to USA Today, Crowe and his friend rowed their kayaks out to the Coast Guard boat, and they and their vessels were pulled aboard and taken to Huntington Harbor, the original destination. Hereís what Crowe had to say about the matter on TwitterÖ
ĒKayak;Cold Spring/Huntington Harbour, thanks to Seth and the boys from the US Coast Guard for guiding the way...4 hrs 30 mins, 7m(11.2km)Ē
The whole getting lost thing definitely doesnít devalue the impressiveness of kayaking for more than four hours. Iíd be touting that achievement all over the Internet too. Still, itís a nice gesture for Crowe to thank the men who helped him publically. Hereís to hoping next time he runs into the Coast Guard, itíll be under more pleasant circumstances.
