Scarlett Johansson Almost Always Wears Makeup

published: 2011-12-22 16:24:00
Scarlett Johansson is a huge girly girl. We know this from past red carpet looks: the actress is super down with embellished, feminine dresses and extremely bold red lipstick. If that weren’t enough, the busy star also models and speaks for Dolce & Gabbana’s high end The Makeup line. However, in this Friday’s We Bought A Zoo the lovely actress works it without makeup to accentuate. The lack in excess makes sense for role: Johansson is playing a zookeeper, a profession which seems unlikely to equate to bright lipstick, false eyelashes, and other glitzy products.

In real life, though, Johansson recently spoke with Style about how she is a girl who needs a little makeup to step out of the door in the morning.
“I always like to put a little bit of makeup on. I’m not the kind of person that just slops around in sweatpants. I like to feel a little more together—you never know who you’re going to see out there! If I’m just going to the grocery store I would throw on a little concealer, a little mascara.”

Her trademark seems to be red lipstick, a makeup trick she learned from artist Pat McGrath.
”I always keep red lipstick in my bag because I never know when I might show up to an event and be completely underdressed. I feel like red lipstick is the cure-all for everything. A really good mascara is a key staple for me, too.”

With all the makeup knowledge Johansson seems to have accrued, it’s unlikely we’ll see her with a fresh, unmade-up face for a long time after We Bought a Zoo makes its theatrical run. She may not sport a fresh-faced, new look any time soon; however, it’s probably unwise to guess the same about her hair color. I kind of miss her as a redhead, anyway.
