It’s a known fact that the Foo Fighters thrive on awesomeness. Like vampires and blood or hockey players and playoff beards, the band members are fueled by good times and wacky nonsense. They once showed up as guest judges on Top Chef. They frequently appear on Saturday Night Live, and earlier this year, the guys surprised Westboro Baptist Church protestors with a song. If it’s weird enough to make you do a double take, yet cool enough to make you smile, chances are Dave Grohl and company have done it, plan on doing it or need to be informed of it immediately. God only knows how many check marks they’ve already got on their bucket lists, especially now that science has proven the Foos rock as hard as a volcanic tremor.
That’s right. These powerful sons of bitches were playing a gig in New Zealand on Tuesday when two separate seismic stations started picking up movements on par with volcano rumblings. At first, the people monitoring the instruments thought it might have been Mother Nature acting up, but after it was noticed the vibrations died down every few minutes, the fine people over at GeoNet realized it was the Foo Fighters concert. Between the bass, fifty thousand fans and a fierce will to physically dominate the earth as imposingly as a rupture in the crust, the noise peaked as high as 3Hz, a scientifically impressive achievement.
