Should Chris Brown Still Be On Probation For Rihanna Incident?

Chris Brown has come a long way in the last three years since the grisly incident of domestic violence that ended his relationship with Rihanna and almost ended his career. At least that was the message from the musician’s probation officer in court today. Brown’s attorney was hoping his client, on the basis of that thumbs up, would be let out of his mandatory probation two years early, but prosecutors disagreed and argued he should have to serve out the remainder of his sentence. Ultimately, the presiding judge agreed with the State and decided he must continue to meet with the same Virginia-based probation officer.

The road to recovery for Chris Brown has been a mix of positives and negatives. According to The Los Angeles Times, the singer has passed all of his drug tests, completed his anger management classes and is approximately half done with his community service. Rihanna also extended a vote of confidence and asked that the terms of the restraining order be lessened a few months back, but some of that good momentum was counterbalanced by an ugly squabble on Good Morning America in which Brown trashed his dressing room following a question about domestic violence.

If airplay is any indication, the majority of people have long forgiven the singer. His album F.A.M.E. has sold very well since its release, and he was recently nominated for several Grammys and asked to perform at the ceremony. Even with that pass from the general public however, it seems the legal system is still not ready to forget. The question is whether it should have.

What do you think? Was the court right in making him serve out the remainder of his sentence? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
