Should Drake Be Disappointed He Didn't Sell A Million?Author: Mack Rawden

Former Degrassi star and current Sprite spokesman Drake released his second full length LP Take Care, and early projections have the record moving just north of seven hundred thousand copies in its first week. That’s a big number, especially considering the health of the music industry, but it’s probably still not where the burgeoning rapper had hoped.
The one million mark is still hittable with a big first week, and considering Drake may be on his way to becoming a top three rapper, that lofty figure seemed within reach. Unfortunately, it appears he’s not quite there yet, or record labels are in worse shape than we thought. Still, the sales don’t mean a whole lot to Drake’s buddy and Young Money head honcho Lil Wayne. The rapper told MTV News he doesn’t really have expectations for his artists beyond working hard in the studio and releasing a product they’re happy with. I guess business is a whole lot easier when you’re not concerned with the bottom line. Here’s an excerpt… ”Pardon me for sounding however I sound with this statement, but we rich as shit, so numbers and record sales that doesn't matter to none of us." The sales figures might not mean a whole lot to Lil Wayne, but judging by Drake’s willingness to change his own lyrics at the American Music Awards to mention his seven hundred thousand copies, I have to assume he cares a little bit too. What do you think? Should he be disappointed by his total, or is the figure something to be proud of? Sound off by voting in the poll below…
