Should Lindsay Lohan Voluntarily Spend More Time In Rehab?
Lindsay Lohan may have had a less than ideal start to her forced rehab experience when she switched from the Betty Ford Clinic to Cliffside Malibu, but by all accounts, she’s been crushing treatment ever since she officially made the switcharoo. In fact, if all of her trips to rehab were compared to her filmography, this one would be Mean Girls. If the latest rumors are to be believed, however, her doctors still aren’t sure it will be enough to keep her from tapping into her inner problem child.
According to Radar Online, the actress’ doctors have strongly recommended that she remain at Cliffside after her court-imposed time is up. They’re apparently pretty enthused about all the progress she’s mad, but because she didn’t actually complete 90 days in one place thanks to the Betty Ford fiasco, they think she should stick it out another month. Fortunately or unfortunately, however, she’s apparently a whole lot less stoked about that prospect. She has allegedly even told friends she’s going to bail the second the clock hits zero because she wants to get out there and promote her new movie The Canyons.
On the one hand, it’s easy to see where Lohan is coming from. There’s a lot riding on the potential success of this film for her. No one is expecting it to do gigantic business, but it would really help her continue to secure work if cinemagoers turned out in halfway decent numbers. That would assumedly allow her to land a role in a more big budget movie, which would be the second step in a multi-part plan to regain the momentum she’s lost over the last half decade by acting like a Gremlin.
On the other hand, however, the single biggest reason why Lohan’s career went busto is because she has consistently dealt with erratic behavior, which has been at least partially fueled by substance abuse. There’s no way she’ll ever be able to make a complete comeback if she’s still hitting the sauce, and I’m not sure executives will ever trust her to keep it together if she blows this rehab chance too. So, maybe it would really be better for her if she took some extra time to make sure this treatment actually sticks.
What do you think? Is it more important for Lindsay to work on promoting her new movie? Or would she be better off sitting the interviews out on The Canyons in hopes she’ll never have to deal with any addiction-related issues again? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
