Stream The Red Hot Chili Peppers' New Album On iTunesAuthor: Jacob Sundstrom

When Stadium Arcadium came out in 2006, I didn’t listen to music. I didn’t even know who the Red Hot Chili Peppers were until “Higher Ground” was used as an overlay for Space Mountain at Disneyland in 2007 -- and that’s not even originally a Chili Peppers song. However, somewhere in that five year gap I discovered the band that everyone else and their dad, and their dad’s dad already knew kicked serious ass. To say that Flea and company have stood the test of time does the Peppers a vast disservice; they’ve made it through all the typical trials and tribulations while coming out stronger for it all. Their tenth album in twenty-seven years, I'm With You, will be released in about a week; but until then, you can go over to iTunes and stream the entire album for free. Awesome.
This isn’t a new thing for iTunes at all; they offered a similar service for the latest Katy Perry album and countless others before that, but this is definitely the first time I’ve actually given a damn about the included band. If you’re a fan of the band, you’ll notice many more piano-centered songs; a definite departure from their typically bass-centric music. Apparently frontman Flea dusted off his piano for this album, and our ears are definitely better off for it. If there is any justice in the universe, this new album should catapult the Red Hot Chili Peppers back into the limelight, and straight into the lives of kids that haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing the chill rock ‘n’ roll sound the Peppers deliver. You can pre-order the album now, or stream it for a few hours before making your decision; get to it, people. |
