Reality TV star Audrina Patridge spent $5,000 on a designer surfboard - then used it as a home furnishing because it's too expensive to take to the waves.

The Hills star paid out the huge sum for the Chanel sports equipment but realized when she got it back to her house that she risked damaging it if she used it in the sea. So she decided to use the board as a quirky bedroom decoration instead - and has vowed to leave it adorning her wall until she masters the art of Hanging Ten.

She says, "The most expensive thing I bought recently was a $5,000 Chanel surfboard. I'm using it as decor in my bedroom until I get really good at surfing. It's too pretty to risk chipping it!" (ZN/WNSMIS/LR)
